WELD FORCE CONTROL SYSTEM

For Your Taylor-Winfield EBA 1 1/2 Weld Head

Retrofit Your Existing Machine

Fire Current at Known Place

Detect Over-Pressure During Weld

Monitor Tool Wear

The weld quality of resistance welding depends largely on controlling your weld force. To ensure the proper nugget formation, it is critical that a minimum force (or pressure) is reached before current is fired and a maximum force is not exceeded during the weld.

Now you can update your existing controller with a retrofit package that allows you to set an accurate force level and to monitor force during every weld. With a part in place, manually activate your air cylinder and accurately set the weld force by dialing the force adjustment knob on your welder. Preset a force limit to a value approximately 5% lower than this force. The system will now monitor every weld and trigger current firing only after the correct force is reached.

During the weld, it is important that the pressure does not continue to increase resulting in a cold weld or small nugget. Using the second programmable limit, you can detect high pressures and signal the operator when the tip force exceeds your acceptable limit.

HOW TO ORDER

Weld Force System Model EBA 1 1/2 Force System

System Configuration

System Configuration and Operation

1.

Install load cell between ram an spring rod.

2

Wire load cell to Weld Meter Terminal Block.

3

Wire Limit 1 relay contacts to limit switch inputs for fire current.

4

Wire Limit 2 relay contactsto signal device for “high force”

5

Calibrate force system using Weld Probe Force Calibrator

6

Set weld force by engaging solenoid manually to clamp representative workpiece and while holding closed, set Force Adjusting Nut until Weld Meter indicates proer force level

7

Set Limit 1 on Weld Meter to a value approximately 5% lower than previously set force level. This will activate current firing just before max. force is reached.

8

Set Limit 1 for a force value 5% higherthan preset force to indicate overload

9

Operate normally
