To complement its line of butt welding
machines, Taylor-Winfield has developed a complete selection of Flash Upset or Arc Bead Trimming machines. These units are similar to the machines that are built into T-W Combination Flash Butt Welders,
but are equipped with a subbase for separate floor mounting in the line.
Units are available in a variety of sizes for removing the excess metal as required when the weld will be retained in the
final product and/or reduced by a rolling mill.
Taylor-Winfield Flash Upset and Arc Bead Trimmers are hydraulically operated and employ five upper and five lower draw-cut-type trimming tools to
assure a smooth joint finish and prolonged tool life.
The trimming machines are designed to suit the material to be trimmed and are simple, rugged units manufactured to withstand the most severe
operational conditions.
A longitudinal traversing feature can be added to permit manual alignment of the trimmer over the joint. This alignment provides ±6" (±150 mm) of movement from the
normal center position. Thus, line jog drives need not be equipped with special devices for accurate stopping of the strip.
